HALCYON:
- Serene, composed, tranquil;
- Denoting a period of time that was idyllically happy and peaceful;
Halcyon Design was founded by Kelly Deitman in 2010, in response to a changing economy with an emphasis on sustainability and lower life-cycle cost building assemblies. The nexus of the firm design ethos is that functional and attractive building designs can also meet a client’s needs for efficiency and maximum value. We strive to consistently provide integrated designs that creatively address building code requirements and energy efficient methodologies. Our large network of consultants gives us the flexibility to choose team members to suit individual project requirements. We utilize the latest software to provide accurate site mapping, 3D building information modeling, and color graphics as required for accurate construction documents and public presentations as well as marketing and fund-raising.
Classic and timeless design, as observed during extensive European and American travels, has formed the basis of Halcyon Design's style ethos. Sustainable sensibilities and contemporary detailing add a unique identity to each design.
Every project is an opportunity for collaboration and growth in understanding our built environment, how we shape it, and how it informs and shelters us.
We also believe in giving back to our community. From 2005 to 2009 our staff provided pro-bono design service to the St Vrain Valley Habitat for Humanity, which culminated in the housing of 11 families in the Longmont and Carbon Valley areas. Staff also volunteered with the City of Boulder Building Department to provide free building safety inspection service, as SAP-certified professionals, after the 2013 flood.
